Survey Software: SurveyMonkey or Qualtrics

Both survey tools share basic functionality, including: the ability to make simple or complex surveys, distribute survey invitations through email, social media, QR code; collect data anonymously or by a personalized link; view basic results immediately and download all responses in several different formats.  SurveyMonkey interface is more intuitive and accessible with a more straightforward survey editor.  Qualitrics has great capacity for survey design and customization but the editor has a steeper learning curve.  Both SurveyMonkey and Qualtrics have many different types of pre-designed survey templates as well as hundreds of pre-written survey questions.  SurveyMonkey surveys are designed to be compliant with U.S. 508 accessibility standards.  Both platforms allow export of data to several formats including Excel, CSV, & SPSS. Qualtrics has it’s roots in academic research and continues to be the preferred platform for survey research within many disciplines.  SurveyMonkey is frequently used for opinion research, program/event evaluation, and assessment.
