How to add a printer to a Mac:
Primary method:
- The computer must be on Ethernet or Berry wireless
- In your Dock, go to Self Service and locate the printer you want to add. Click the printer and follow any prompts. You're finished.
If the printer isn't listed in self-service, continue with these instructions:
- Go to System Preferences
- Select Printers
- Click the + sign
- Look at the list of all networked printers
- Use Bonjour to add a printer (never use the Berry print server)
- You will need the printer name and mac address (can get from a config page from the printer)
- If the printer you wish to add isn't displayed, you will need to add it by IP address
- Click IP in the top left hand corner of the printer page (Tip: you can get the IP address from your Windows computer if you know the printer name)
- Select a protocol (try LPD first)
- Add finishers (these tell the printer that it can print double-sided, staple, etc)
- Print a test page
How to remove a printer and add it back on a Mac:
- System Preferences
- Printers
- Click the - sign to remove the printer
- Click the + sign to add the printer
- Follow the instructions in the section above to add the printer.
How to print a test page on a Mac:
- System Preferences
- Printer
- Click on the printer
- Open the print queue
- Select printer at the top
- Print test page
