How to Create Assignments on Canvas

Step 1: Accessing Your Course:

1. Log in to your Canvas account.
2. Select the course where you want to create the assignment.

Step 2: Accessing Assignments:

1. Once in your course, find the “Assignments” tab on the left-hand menu.
2. Click on “Assignments” to access the assignments dashboard.

Step 3: Creating a New Assignment:

1. In the assignment’s dashboard, click on the "Add Assignment" button.

2. Fill in the details of your assignment, including the assignment name, description, due date, and points possible.

3. You can also set other options such as availability dates, submission types, and assignment groups.

Step 4: Setting Submission Options:

1. Choose how students will submit their assignments (e.g., online, file upload, text entry).

2. Set any additional submission requirements or file upload settings.

3. Save your changes.

Step 5: Assigning to Students:

1. By default, the assignment is published and available to students.
2. You can preview the assignment as a student to ensure everything looks correct.

3. Students will see the assignment in the course's "Assignments" page.
